Breaking barriers – Pacemakers

In medicine, a pacemaker is a small device that’s placed in the chest or abdomen to help control abnormal heart rhythms. This device uses electrical pulses to prompt the heart to beat at a normal rate.

In a marathon pacemakers are professionals employed by event organizers to set a reasonable pace for runners. The pacemaker runs a specific number of laps at a certain pace and drops out of the race at some point. The pacemaker serves to encourage, motivate, inspire and relay relevant information to runners on aspects like time and speed. Pacemakers have helped elite runners to break world records.

Pacemakers can be found in all areas of life as well. These are people who go first and inspire the rest of us to follow. Pacemakers break perceived limitations and barriers in our lives. It seems the human mind is designed to follow pacemakers. That is why it is important to have the right pacemakers in your life, business, and career.
