An opinion is a view or judgement formed about something, not necessarily based on fact or knowledge. Someone once said that opinions are the cheapest commodities on earth. All of us have opinions about ourselves and the world around us.
Opinions can be true or false. An opinion becomes knowledge to the extent to which it is true. Opinions from an “expert” approach the truth to some extent. The challenge is many of us are walking around with all sorts of false opinions about ourselves and our environment. We easily believe the false opinions we form. We delay action because of the fear of other people’s opinions.
Once we are able to distinguish between true and false opinions we can choose to ignore the false opinions. We then accept the opinions which approach truth to guide our actions.
So next time you think of something, try and silently evaluate whether you are dealing with an opinion or a fact. If it is an opinion, evaluate whether it is true or false. Ignore the false opinions and act on the true opinions. In time you will be guided to true wealth.
