Struggling to pay school fees?

The Money Engineer

The kids are back in school this week. Many schools have increased their fees! If you are struggling to pay school fees for your kids and other dependents it is most likely that you are not managing your money prudently.

Of course we can blame all sorts of things and people for the predicament we find ourselves in. We can blame the government for not regulating fees. We can blame the economy for being tight. We can blame our employers for paying us too little. We can blame the schools for being too expensive.

Unfortunately blaming others will not solve our problems. Your current financial situation is a result of your conscious and sub-conscious decisions and habits you have made with money and your life. It is only by realising this and accepting responsibility that you will be able to make any changes.

If every other term you are struggling to pay school fees there is surely a problem. Someone defined insanity as doing the same thing all the time and expecting different results!

If you can’t survive one month without your salary and yet you have been working for a while you are living your life irresponsibly!

You can’t blame the education system for not teaching you financial literacy yet you are always on Facebook and Whatsapp!

If you don’t know your networth or how much you are spending monthly there is a problem.

There are some practical things you can do right now to begin to change your situation.

First you need to educate yourself about personal financial management. Second you need to start practising what some of the books tell you to do. Slowly things will begin to change and you will soon start looking forward to the next term.

I recommend the following simple books to get you started. Just google them and download.

1. Rich dad poor dad by Robert Kiyosaki
2. The richest man in Babylon by George S Clason
3. Total money makeover by Dave Ramsey
4. The millionaire next door by Thomas J Stanley
5. The automatic millionaire by David Bach
6. The science of getting rich by Wallace D Wattles

Challenge yourself to read these books. Just pick one book and read just one page daily. Within a few weeks you mindset and views about money will begin to change. Once your mindset changes your behaviours and actions will change. You will then begin slowly to increase you bank balance. After a while school fees will nolonger be an issue.

Please forgive me if I seem to be insensitive to your current financial situation but feeling sorry for you will not bolt you into taking any action to make things better. I hope you are open minded enough to read at least one of the books I have recommended.

God Bless You.
