A bird in the hand is worth more than two in the bush. Your current job is better than the jobs you don’t have. Your spouse is better than your admirers. Your business today is better than the one you will start tomorrow. Your gifts and talents are better than the ones you plan on acquiring. The customers you have are better than the ones you’re looking for.
The idea is to fully utilize your current gifts, opportunities and networks before heading out to look for so called better opportunities.
On the other hand if the bird in hand is a dove and the birds in the bush are chickens you may have to reconsider. Sometimes you have to go after the birds in the bush if they present better opportunities. Better still you can hold onto the current opportunities while pursuing more promising ventures.
In the meantime focus on the bird in hand.
