A chess game is not over until you are checkmated, run out of time or resign. Other than that you still have a winning chance however small. You may have a bad position against a much stronger opponent but you can still win. A chess game progresses from an opening, through a middle game to an end game. Defeat is rarely certain unless you have reached the end game. Before that you have to give it your best.
This principle applies in the game of life as well. Our lives and projects go through different phases from inception to growth to decline. We need to know in which phase we’re before we throw in the towel. It’s unwise to give up at any stage and especially during inception or growth. In either case we must keep moving forward. As long as you’re still alive you still have a fighting chance. It’s not over yet.
