ABOUT THE MONEY HUSTLE

The Money Hustle is an innovative financial education program for individuals and start-up entrepreneurs. It’s a personal growth challenge and it equips participants with basic financial skills to grow and sustain their lives. It’s based on a group model of learning where members learn together and support each other to achieve their dreams. The participants learn in small groups and develop mutually beneficial relationships. The program is delivered largely online with limited sessions in person. The program is highly personalized as it is delivered in small groups. This is a practical program based on personal experience and lots of research. It blends elements of psychology and behavior finance to instill key money habits among the participants.

TARGET AUDIENCE

The project seeks to equip a small group of 10 to 15 individuals who typically hold the following roles:

  • Start-up founders
  • Professionals
  • Small business owners
  • Youth entrepreneurs
  • Aspiring investors and entrepreneurs;
  • Young graduates

These are people who desire to grow financially and economically and are willing to invest the time and resources to achieve their goals.

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES

  1. To equip individuals and business owners with key financial skills to make their businesses profitable;
  2. To improve the financial knowledge of individuals and business owners;
  3. To improve odds of success of small businesses through improved financial management.
  4. To increase the financial well-being of participants

LEARNING OUTCOMES

At the end of the course each participant should be able to walk away with a written personal financial plan which they have developed personally and are intent on following. The Money Engineer can offer to help follow up with participants for a small fee to ensure effective implementation.

We expect the following measurable outcomes:

  • Demonstrable understanding of key financial concepts (assets, liabilities, equity, cashflow, leverage, profit, return on investment, risk, interest rates, compounding, etc.)
  • Improved savings rates among the target audience;
  • Increased net assets;
  • Optimized/reduced debt/credit exposure;
  • Improved business performance/growth;
  • Career/professional growth.

PROGRAM STRUCTURE

The program will be delivered over three-hour sessions delivered once a month for 12 months. The sessions will be delivered online via Zoom every last Saturday of the month from 10.00am to 1.00pm. Each month participants will be expected to read and share at least one book on personal finance/development.

The program is divided into four modules. Participants can choose which modules they wish to participate in.

  • Module 1: Personal Finance
  • Module 2: Business Finance
  • Module 3: Investment Planning
  • Module 4: Your personal financial plan

Learning will be reinforced in the group by all participants sharing different perspectives. Participants will be expected to hold each other accountable on their personal goals throughout the 12 months.
