What were you born to do?

This question is quite baffling to most of us. Often we think about it briefly, if we think about it at all, and then settle back into our daily routines. Some of us are so off track busy doing things we were never born to do. But is there a way to find out what we were born to do?

We can find some answers in biblical texts. In the creation story God creates man in His own image and likeness and blesses him to be fruitful and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it; and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.”

This is a good start. We are created in God’s image meaning we are co-creators with God. We have also been given dominion over everything on earth.

This likeness with God is typically evident in our innate talents and gifts. So the idea is that we are to use these unique talents to create, multiply, dominate the earth, and serve God’s children.

Herein lies a glimpse of our purpose for being. We are not just mere automatons going to work everyday to collect a paycheck. Instead we are divine being, created in God’s very own image, with a unique mission to accomplish.

So the question is; what is your unique mission? The answer lies in discovering and developing your unique God given talents and then using them to serve other people. This is the path which creates true fulfilment. So find ways to develop your innate gifts in your current jobs and use them to serve other people.
