Increase your ability to produce wealth

I have just read an excellent book on Wealth Creation based on biblical principles by Samuel Bakutana. Here are some of the key ideas:

  1. Eat the bread, not the seed. Don’t judge each day by the harvest you reap but by the seeds you plant. Never let those who are eating their harvest make you eat your seed.
  2. Your seed is your talent, gifts and skills. Don’t ignore, despise or waste your seed, however, small it maybe.
  3. Discover your seed, develop it, package it, and deploy it to solve real life problems and help other people.
  4. You can both be righteous and wealthy. Many biblical personalities were quite wealthy.
  5. Invest in your self through reading and study. Become a master of your craft. Be diligent. The real measure of your wealth is how much you would be worth if you lost all your money.
  6. Appreciate the beauty and necessity of work. Work and you will get what you need. Work harder and you will get what you want. Work is a blessing not a curse. Work is an avenue for provision. Working hard produces abundance.
  7. Save like you have no expenditure. Wealth can only be accumulated by the earnings of industry and the savings of frugality. Delay gratification and have a savings plan.
  8. Urgently tame your expenditures. That man is richest whose pleasures are cheapest.
  9. Multiply your resources for profit. Never invest in a business you don’t understand. Have multiple sources of income. Get wise counsel from investment professionals
  10. Debt should not be your problem. Pay off your debt first. Freedom from debt is worth more than any amount you can earn.

This is a great book to read as you end this year and prepare resolutions for the new year.
